Description
Suhr’s V54 series was built to nail the glassy, chiming single-coil tone that defined American guitar music in the 1950s — and this Hot Bridge version takes that vintage voice and adds the output needed to cut through in the bridge position. It reads slightly brighter than Suhr’s V60 line, so if you’re chasing that airy, top-end shimmer rather than a fatter vintage growl, this is the coil for you.
What makes the V54 set special is that every pickup is calibrated individually for its position rather than treated as an interchangeable single design. This Hot Bridge model is wound to 7.1K ohms DC resistance, giving it more punch and pickup-to-pickup balance than the 6.0K neck and middle units in the set. The middle pickup (sold separately) also gets reverse winding and reverse polarity, keeping hum-canceling intact when you dig into that classic quack between positions.
Because it’s a true single-coil, the V54 Hot Bridge stays articulate and touch-sensitive, responding to pick attack the way vintage-inspired players expect. Drop it into a Strat-style bridge slot on its own for authentic twang, or pair it with humbuckers elsewhere in the guitar for a versatile setup that spans blues, country, funk, and classic rock without losing that essential single-coil character.
