Description
The Suhr ML Classic Bridge pickup is Michael Landau’s take on the vintage-voiced Strat single-coil, tuned to stay articulate under gain while keeping that glassy Strat sparkle intact. Rather than a straight vintage clone, Suhr reworked the staggered pole piece heights so the magnetic field pulls evenly across all six strings – a detail that matters a lot more on modern flatter-radius necks and today’s heavier string gauges, where old-school staggers can leave certain strings sounding thin or overpowering.
Voiced bright and punchy, the ML Classic bridge unit sits at 6.5K ohms DC resistance, giving it a touch more output and midrange push than the matching neck and middle units (both 6.0K, with the middle wound reverse-wound/reverse-polarity for hum-cancelling in position 2 and 4). An Alnico V magnet underpins the whole set with that classic mix of tight low-end control, present mids, and a top-end that stays smooth rather than icy – great for everything from Texas blues twang to fusion lead tones. Braided cloth hookup wire keeps things period-correct and easy to work with for anyone soldering it in themselves.
