Description
Signed off by Michael Landau himself, the ML Classic bridge pickup is voiced for players who want the classic Strat quack without sacrificing clarity when you dig in. Suhr built these to tighten up the low end, keep the midrange focused, and let the top end sparkle rather than turn brittle — the kind of balance that makes single notes sing and chords stay articulate under drive.
Under the hood, Suhr uses a modified staggered pole piece design rather than the vintage-correct staggers you’ll find on older Strat pickups. The goal is a more even magnetic field across all six strings, which matters a lot more now that most players are on flatter fingerboard radiuses and heavier string gauges than Fender’s original spec ever accounted for. It’s a small design tweak that keeps the pickup relevant on modern necks without losing that Strat character.
Specs on this bridge model:
- Magnet: Alnico V
- DC Resistance: 6.5KΩ
- Hook-up wire: braided cloth
For reference, the matching neck and middle positions in the ML Classic set both sit at 6.0KΩ, with the middle wound reverse-wound/reverse-polarity for hum-cancelling in the 2 and 4 switch positions.
Finished in white to match vintage-style Strat pickguards and covers, this is a straightforward drop-in upgrade for anyone chasing that bright, punchy Landau tone — whether that’s going into a clean amp for glassy chords or getting pushed into overdrive for lead work.
