Description
The Suhr ML Classic neck pickup is built around Michael Landau’s own preferences for a Strat tone that stays articulate no matter how hard you dig in. Rather than chasing pure vintage output, Suhr voiced the ML Classic to sit firmly in bright-and-punchy territory: tight low end, a midrange that pushes forward without honking, and a top-end shimmer that never turns brittle.
What sets ML pickups apart mechanically is the modified staggered pole piece layout. Instead of following the old-school staggering formula, Suhr reworked the pole heights to create a more even magnetic field across the string set. That matters a lot on modern necks with flatter fingerboard radiuses and today’s typical string gauges, where traditional staggers can leave certain strings sounding thin or overly hot.
Wound with an Alnico V magnet and finished in white to match a classic Strat pickguard look, this neck-position unit reads 6.0KΩ DC resistance, keeping it balanced against the middle (6.0KΩ, RW/RP for hum-cancelling in position 2 and 4) and bridge (6.5KΩ) pickups in the ML Classic set. Hook-up wire is braided cloth, in keeping with the vintage-inspired construction Suhr uses throughout the line.
