Description
The SSH is Suhr’s take on a bridge humbucker that doesn’t force you to choose between vintage character and modern push. It sits at 13K ohms DC resistance, giving you enough output to shove a tube amp’s front end into breakup while keeping the midrange forward and articulate rather than mushy or compressed.
What makes the SSH (and its DSH sibling) so popular in Suhr’s lineup is how it balances that stronger output with an open, sweet top end — the kind of vintage-leaning voice that still has clarity and detail on tap when you need to cut through a dense mix. Chord work stays defined, single-note lines have bite, and the pickup responds well whether you’re riding the amp clean or driving it hard.
This particular version comes with a nickel cover and is wound for 53mm Fender-style pole spacing, so it’s a straightforward drop-in for guitars built around that string spacing. It’s wired with 4-conductor lead wire, giving you the flexibility to wire it for series, parallel, or coil-split configurations depending on how your guitar’s switching is set up.
Suhr builds the SSH with premium components throughout, so the acoustic personality of your guitar and the nuance in your playing translate faithfully to the amp rather than getting flattened out.
