Description
The SSV+ is Suhr’s answer for players who love the harmonic complexity of a great vintage PAF but need a bit more push to stay heard in a busy mix. It keeps the touch-sensitive dynamics and open, woody midrange that made old-school humbuckers so revered, then adds a controlled boost in output so single notes bite and chords stay articulate at higher gain.
Built around an Alnico V magnet, this bridge-position unit measures in at 10k Ohm DC resistance, giving it enough muscle for classic rock and fusion leads while still cleaning up nicely for blues phrasing or jazzier voicings. It’s wired with 4-conductor hookup wire, so you’ve got full flexibility for coil-splitting, phase reversal, or series/parallel switching if your control cavity is set up for it.
This particular listing is the double-row screw configuration in a 50mm nickel cover with a zebra coil look — the double-screw version leans toward a sweeter, smoother top end compared to the single-screw variant’s extra midrange growl and cut. Either way, it’s the kind of pickup that rewards dynamics: dig in and it snarls, back off and it cleans up like an old PAF should.
