The SSV+ is Suhr’s answer to the question every PAF lover eventually asks: what if it had a bit more shove? It keeps the sweet, woody character that made vintage-style humbuckers a benchmark, but dials in extra output so single-note lines and riffs punch through a busy band mix instead of getting buried in it.
That versatility is what makes the SSV+ such a chameleon in the bridge position. It’s equally at home behind a clean pop tone, a gritty blues bend, the crunch of classic rock, or the more demanding harmonic language of jazz and fusion, where clarity under gain really matters.
Screw configuration shapes the voice here. Go with the double-row screw layout if you want a rounder, sweeter top end, or pick the single-screw version for more aggressive cut and a midrange honk that helps solos sit forward in the mix.
