Description
If your ears are chasing that golden-era single-coil growl—think bell-bottoms, stacked amps, and blues-rock riffs that still get covered today—the V70 middle pickup is built for that exact chase. Suhr hand-winds each one using their proprietary process, pairing plain enamel wire with specially formulated Alnico V magnets for a voice that’s punchy without ever tipping into harsh.
What sets the V70 apart is its modified staggered pole piece layout. Rather than the older, less consistent staggering found on true vintage units, this design keeps the magnetic field even across all strings—so those long, multi-step bends that defined 70’s lead playing come through clear and balanced, and the pickup also plays nicely with the flatter fingerboard radii common on modern guitars.
Wound as a middle position pickup (RW/RP for hum-cancelling in combination with neighboring pickups), the V70 delivers tight, snappy low end and shimmering top end that cuts through a mix sweetly rather than aggressively. It’s dynamic enough to respond to every pick attack nuance, whether you’re playing clean blues chords or pushing a cranked amp into rock territory.
Each pickup features vintage-correct gray fiberboard bottoms and Teflon hook-up wire for reliable, period-accurate construction. This listing is for the parchment-covered version.
