Description
W.L. Van Zandt didn’t set out to build a pickup empire — he was a Dallas/Ft. Worth machinist and country guitarist who started rewinding magnets for buddies back in the early 1960s. Word of mouth did the rest, and decades later that same hands-on, ears-first approach is baked into every Truebucker.
The Truebucker Hot is built around the classic PAF blueprint that made vintage Les Pauls, 335s, and their contemporaries sound the way they do — but with a slightly hotter wind for a bit more push out of the amp. You still get that vintage character: a lively top end balanced against a full, rounded low end, with plenty of harmonic complexity in between. The extra output doesn’t flatten that dynamic — it just adds muscle.
What really stands out is how touch-sensitive it is. Dig in and it snarls; back off and it cleans up with articulation intact, which makes it a genuinely versatile pickup rather than a one-trick hot rod.
- Vintage PAF-style voicing with a hotter output than original specs
- Strong top end and bottom end for a full-range response
- Highly attack-sensitive — dynamics respond directly to pick technique
- Well suited to rock, rhythm and blues, country, and rockabilly
- Pickup Type: Humbucker
- Finish: Black
If you love PAF tone but want a little extra grit and drive without losing the vintage soul, the Truebucker Hot is built for exactly that.
