Description
Seymour Duncan’s Antiquity Bridge Humbucker isn’t just inspired by the original “patent applied for” pickups Seth E. Lover built in 1955 — it’s built the same way, with the same intentional inconsistencies. DC resistance shifts slightly from pickup to pickup, just like the vintage units it’s modeled after, because Seymour never smoothed out those imperfections when they defined the tone.
For bridge duty, Seymour Duncan wound this one a touch hotter than its neck counterpart and voiced it to sit better in the bridge position, so it holds its own without losing the vintage character. The mounting ring sits a bit taller to accommodate the extra pickup height, and there’s no wax potting here — leaving the sound and look as close to the original as possible, feedback quirks and all.
Each Antiquity is hand-built in Seymour Duncan’s dedicated Antiquity room, with every magnet and bottom plate individually signed to confirm it’s the real thing. Wiring is finished with the classic cloth-braided “push back” hookup wire, and this version wears a gold cover for a bit of vintage flash.
