Description
The Antiquity Texas Hot isn’t a reissue in the usual sense — it’s Seymour Duncan’s attempt to freeze a specific moment in vintage Strat tone, right down to the wear on the cover. Each unit is scatter-wound by hand rather than machine-formed, so you get the same slightly irregular coil geometry that gave old Strats their character instead of a sterile, uniform wind. The covers themselves are individually aged, not just molded in a tinted plastic to fake the look — this is real distressing, piece by piece.
Under the hood, the magnets are calibrated and the coils wound “top going” with north polarity, matching the construction quirks of early vintage units rather than a modern, corrected layout. The result leans hotter than a stock vintage single coil (6.3K DC resistance, 2.87 henries inductance, Q of 2.39), giving you a bit more push into your amp while still holding onto that airy, chiming top end Strats are known for.
Every pickup ships with mounting screws, wiring schematics, and vintage-style cloth-braided push-back hookup wire for an authentic install. Need one for the middle position? An RW/RP (reverse wound/reverse polarity) version is available to keep your pickups hum-cancelling in positions 2 and 4.
