Description
Some pickups chase vintage tone. The Antiquity P-90 just is vintage tone, aged on purpose so you skip the decades of wear and get straight to the growl. Seymour Duncan pulled apart real specimens from gold top Les Pauls and ES-330s from the ’50s to reverse-engineer this bridge unit, right down to the hand-wound bobbins and the flatback tape holding it all together.
Under the cream soapbar cover sit two Dun-Aged Alnico II bar magnets, calibrated as a matched pair and mounted to a precision metal spacer that pushes their field up through six fillister pole pieces. That’s the mechanism behind the classic P-90 snarl – fatter and rawer than a single coil, grittier and more open than a humbucker, with a midrange bark that cuts through a band mix without ever sounding harsh.
This is the bridge-position half of the set, built with LP spacing to drop straight into a Les Paul-style routing.
