Pair it with the 58CBP in the P slot and you’ve got a setup that plenty of players lean on for that punchy-but-articulate P/J growl, without the fizz or dead spots that plague lesser pickups.
What sets the Classic Bass (CB) series apart is frequency range. These are passive coils wound to stretch further into the highs than a standard vintage-style pickup, so you get genuine top-end air and string definition instead of a muffled low-mid mush. Lows and low-mids aren’t sacrificed to get there either – the bottom stays full and controlled while the highs open up. It’s a noticeably more resonant, more detailed voice than what most stock P/J pickups deliver.
Every Classic Bass pickup is cast in epoxy, which locks the coil windings in place to kill microphonics and squash unwanted feedback – handy if you play loud or dig in hard with a pick.
