Description
The 59J1-L is Bartolini’s long-format replacement for the bridge slot on a 5-string Fender Jazz Bass. If you’re chasing that dense, low-mid-forward growl that J Basses are known for, this is the pickup built specifically for that job—not a generic single-coil pretending to fit.
Inside, it uses a dual in-line coil arrangement, meaning two coils sit side by side rather than stacked, cancelling hum while keeping the punchy, present character players expect from this position. It’s part of Bartolini’s Original Series, a passive lineup that gets cast in epoxy to lock out microphonic squeal and unwanted feedback—useful if you’re running higher gain or just want a quieter signal chain overall.
Worth knowing before you order: on a real Jazz Bass, the bridge pickup is physically longer than the neck pickup (3-3/4″ vs 3-5/8″), so this ‘long’ bridge unit isn’t interchangeable with a short neck pickup. Some modern builds instead run two long pickups, with a dedicated ‘LN’ (long neck) variant made for the neck slot in that setup—don’t drop a bridge pickup there. Always double-check the physical length of your current pickup against the spec below before buying.
