Description
The 9CBJS-L1 is the bridge-position pickup from Bartolini’s Classic Bass (CB) line, a passive series designed to push the frequency window wider than a typical vintage-style single coil. Instead of the usual clipped highs, you get genuine sparkle and pick-attack definition up top, while the low end and low-mids stay full and unshaken. It’s the kind of extra headroom that lets a Jazz bass cut through a busy mix without sounding thin.
Bartolini casts each pickup in epoxy, which locks the coil and magnet structure solid to kill microphonic squeal and unwanted feedback — a real advantage once you’re running higher gain or stacking effects. Inside, CNC-machined blade polepieces replace individual staggered magnets, giving even string-to-string output across fingerboards from 50mm to 59mm at the bridge. That means no dead spots or weak strings, even with medium fingerboard radius setups.
This particular model is the long-shell bridge unit (L1), matched for Jazz Bass routing and spacing. Being a single coil design in the narrow J-style shape, it delivers that classic punchy growl the format is known for, just with more clarity and extension than a standard-issue single coil.
