Description
The Bartolini 9J1-LN is the neck-position half of Bartolini’s 9J1 single-coil set, voiced for players chasing a darker, punchier take on the classic J-bass sound. Where vintage-style singles tend to sit thin and bright, this one digs into the lows and low-mids, giving you a fatter foundation without losing single-coil bite.
- Single coil construction, matched in output to a traditional Fender-style Neck/Bridge pair
- Deeper, warmer tone than vintage-voiced pickups – strength lives in the low end and low-mids
- #1 winding spec adds noticeably more growl, especially when paired with a 9J1 Bridge unit
- Long neck (L) version, ever so slightly brighter than the older 94J series it’s descended from
Heads up on noise: like most true single coils, running the Neck or Bridge pickup solo will bring some hum along for the ride. Bartolini’s coils are quieter than most old-school singles, but they’re not hum-cancelling, so this isn’t the pickup to reach for if silent single-coil operation with active electronics is the goal.
Want a P/J setup instead? Pair this 9J1-LN with one of Bartolini’s P-Bass pickups (8S or 8SU models) for a hybrid tone that blends P-Bass thump with J-bass clarity – just be sure to order the matching #1 winding option as the 9J-L1.
Factory sealed and brand new, this is a straightforward drop-in upgrade for anyone rewiring a Jazz Bass for more low-end character.
