If you’ve been chasing the warmest, most low-end-rich voice in the Bartolini J-Bass catalog, the 9SU-L/S is the set luthiers keep coming back to. It pairs the 9ST-S (short) at the bridge with the 9S-L (long) at the neck — the correct length combination for a traditional Fender Jazz Bass, since the stock neck and bridge pickups aren’t the same size.
Both pickups use Bartolini’s original single-coil design, wound to deliver punch and clarity without the harsh edge some single coils are known for. Each unit is epoxy-potted, which locks the coil in place to kill microphonics and stray feedback — a must if you play at stage volume or push your amp into overdrive.

Before you order, grab a tape measure. Standard J-Bass necks use a 3-5/8" pickup while the bridge measures 3-3/4", but plenty of modern basses run two long (bridge-length) pickups instead — in that case you’d want an LN-specific neck pickup, not a standard bridge unit swapped into the neck slot. A small number of basses even use two short neck-length pickups. Measure your existing pickups first so the replacements drop in without any routing or rewiring surprises.
