The COJ5CBJD set brings Bartolini’s Classic Bass voice to 5-string Jazz-style instruments that shipped with non-standard G&B pickups from Chinese production runs — a direct fit for Overwater and MTD Kingston Lynn Keller 5-strings looking for a genuine tone upgrade without a rewiring overhaul.
Narrower apertures than a stock J give these pickups a tighter, more focused pickup window, translating into crisper attack and extra top-end detail that doesn’t tip into harsh territory. The result is a pickup that rewards dynamics: dig in and you get grit and growl, back off and it cleans up into something sweet and articulate. Slap and pop technique holds up well too, which is why this series shows up on jazz, gospel, progressive, and metal stages where note definition actually matters.
Dual inline coils cancel hum on either pickup soloed, not just in combination, so you’re covered whether you’re recording direct or gigging on a noisy stage. They’re fully passive, drop into existing wiring in most basses, and are built sweat- and knock-resistant so palm contact or string slaps won’t introduce crackle or thump.
