The DL5CBC is Bartolini’s answer for 5-string Music Man StingRay players who want more shimmer up top without giving up the low-end muscle these basses are known for. Built as a direct-fit replacement, it slots into most post-1992 5-string StingRay basses (look for the three separate mounting ears) and also fits certain Lakland and Tobias models sharing the same footprint.
This is a dual-coil design pulled from Bartolini’s “Classic Bass” line — passive pickups engineered with an extended frequency window compared to more traditional voicings. Rather than the usual dark, compressed StingRay growl, the Classic Bass series opens things up with real air and string definition on the high end, while keeping the lows and low-mids fully intact. Think of it as the StingRay tone you already know, just with more clarity and detail riding on top.
Like the rest of Bartolini’s lineup, the DL5CBC is cast in epoxy. That means quieter performance under stage lights and near noisy gear, with unwanted feedback and microphonic squeal kept firmly in check — important on a bass where a single hot pickup is doing all the tonal work.
