Description
Delano’s JC 5 HE/M2 takes the classic single-coil sensing window — that narrow slice of string a JB-style pickup actually ‘hears’ — and doubles it up into a true split-coil humbucker. You get the articulate, focused pickup response players chase from a Jazz Bass pickup, but with the hum-cancelling stability that lets you run high-gain rigs, active EQ, or noisy stages without babysitting your noise floor.
Tonally, this set is built for players who want the full picture: a bottom end that’s both full and tight, low-mid warmth that never turns muddy, velvety mids, and a top end with real sparkle rather than harsh glare. It’s a balance that tracks your playing dynamics closely, so digging in or laying back both come through with character intact.
Where it really earns its keep is on 5-string basses. The low-B stays defined and punchy even on a 34″ scale — a range that trips up a lot of pickups — while the E-string retains the tone integrity you’d expect from a well-voiced 4-string setup. Nothing gets swallowed or smeared as you move across the low register.
- Split-coil JB-type humbucker design for 5-string basses
- Left-handed configuration
- Both pickups use bridge-size shells
- Works cleanly in passive, active, or hybrid wiring setups
Whether your bass is passive, active, or somewhere in between, the JC 5 HE/M2 slots in and delivers world-class low-end clarity without asking you to change your rig.
