Description
The FS-1 was built for the players who wince at a traditional Strat bridge tone rather than melt over it. DiMarzio didn’t chase vintage authenticity here – they went after warmth, weight, and about 25% more power than a stock single-coil, so the notorious “quack” gets replaced with something rounder and more forgiving on the ears.
Drop one into the bridge and pair it with True Velvet pickups in the middle and neck, and you get a genuinely balanced set across all five switch positions – no more fighting the bridge tone to keep it usable. Prefer a bolder, more aggressive voice across the whole guitar? Loading FS-1s into all three positions works too.
Despite not being designed as a vintage-flavored pickup, the FS-1 has a habit of winning over blues players running maple-neck Strats, thanks to its extra midrange and low-end push – and it still cleans up nicely when you back off the volume knob.
