Description
Standard humbuckers sense the string at two points, and that dual-coil trick cancels hum right along with a chunk of your tone. DiMarzio flipped that trade-off on its head with The Humbucker From Hell® — a design that cancels far fewer frequencies, so what’s left is brighter, cleaner, and noticeably more open than a typical PAF-style pickup, while still packing similar output.
It was built with the neck position in mind, and that’s where it really shows off. Drop it into the neck slot of a Gibson Les Paul® and the sound blooms in a way you won’t expect from a humbucker. In a bolt-on guitar’s neck position, it takes on an almost acoustic-like character — airy, articulate, and far from muddy.
Curious about the name? Slap it in the bridge position, plug into a bright amp, and find out for yourself. Fair warning: earplugs recommended.
