Description
DiMarzio built the DLX Plus™ to answer a specific problem: players loved the airy, open voice of soapbar and mini-humbucker pickups, but wanted more horsepower under the hood. Rather than just cranking output and calling it a day, they dialed back the midrange slightly, which lets the low end stay tight and punchy instead of collapsing into a boomy mess, while the top end stays clear and articulate. You get real power here, but it never turns muddy or congested — there’s still plenty of pick attack and note separation coming through.
This Neck-position version trims the bass response a touch leaner than its Bridge counterpart, which actually works in your favor up at the neck — low notes stay defined instead of turning into low-end sludge, so chords and single-note runs both come through with clarity. It still carries nearly the same power as the Bridge model, so you’re not sacrificing punch to get that definition.
Wired with 4-conductor cable, so you’ve got the flexibility to wire in coil-splitting or parallel switching if your setup allows for it — handy if you want access to thinner, single-coil-ish tones alongside the full humbucker output.
