The Bluesbucker (DP163) is DiMarzio’s answer to a classic dilemma: you want the snarl and dynamics of a P90, but your guitar only takes humbucker-sized pickups. Thanks to patented Virtual Vintage and Airbucker construction, this pickup fools its magnetic field into seeing a narrow string window like a true single-coil, while still cancelling 60-cycle hum like a normal humbucker. No routing, no drama.

Only one of the two coils is actually doing the tonal heavy lifting. The coil with the 6 adjustable slotted pole pieces is the hot coil – that’s your P90 voice. The solid-pole coil is there purely for hum cancellation, quietly riding along in the background. Because of that lopsided division of labor, orientation matters a lot here. Hot coil toward the bridge gives you more bite and top end; hot coil toward the neck warms things up. DiMarzio’s own preference is the bridge pickup installed
