Rather than just chasing generic vintage tone, they tuned the coil to sit right in that elusive “sweet spot” where brightness never tips into piercing.
The True Velvet picks up where DiMarzio’s earlier Blue Velvet design left off, refining the frequency response to zero in on what made the best old-school single coils sing. A carefully calculated magnet stagger keeps string-to-string balance even, so big open chords ring out clearly instead of collapsing into mush. Built with hand-ground magnets and vintage cloth-covered wire, it’s got the look and feel to match its old-soul voicing — flexible enough to handle chicken-pickin’ country runs one minute and dirty Texas blues bends the next.
