Tele neck pickups have a reputation problem – weak output, muddy lows, harsh highs. DiMarzio built the Twang King™ Neck to fix that, then pushed it further with the True Velvet™ T. The result keeps the big, clean low-end punch players loved in the Twang King™, but softens the top end and adds more bite to the attack, so you get a pickup that’s equally at home sounding sweet and cleaned-up or driving hard into a dirty amp.
Under the hood, the True Velvet™ T shares the same construction philosophy as its predecessor: controlled-tension coil winding, specially selected wire, and magnets that are hand-calibrated rather than just dropped in. It’s double wax-potted to kill microphonic squeal before it starts, and it wears an unplated (raw) nickel cover for an uncolored, purer tonal output straight from the source.
