Description
The Fast Track 1 (DP181) sits right between a vintage single-coil and a full-size humbucker — hotter and more muscular than DiMarzio’s Cruiser, yet still bright and articulate rather than thick and dark. Instead of the usual rod magnets, it uses a continuous dual-blade magnetic field. That means even string-to-string balance and none of the magnetic pull that drags vintage-style pickups out of tune over time.
Output-wise, you’re looking at roughly double a standard single-coil, which puts it in great company with medium- to hot-output full-size humbuckers — it has the dynamic range to actually keep pace when the gain comes up, instead of getting buried. Drop one in any position of a standard Strat, load up a full set, or mix it into a custom configuration with other DiMarzio dual-blade models.
Because it runs quieter than most high-output pickups but with noticeably more headroom than a vintage single-coil, it’s equally happy driving a clean amp with sparkle or pushing into overdrive without falling apart. If you want single-coil character with hum-cancellation and a bit more push behind it, this is the pickup for that job.
