Description
Think of The Chopper as the beefier sibling to DiMarzio’s Fast Track 1 — same twin-blade, side-by-side coil layout, but dialed up for more low-end weight and midrange growl. Because it uses blades instead of individual pole pieces, you get rock-solid string coverage no matter how you set up your action or string spacing — no hunting for magnetic sweet spots.
Tonally, it splits the difference between a single-coil and a full-size humbucker: fuller and grittier than a stock Strat pickup, but with more snap and definition than a traditional HB. That makes it a natural for the bridge slot on a Stratocaster, especially when you’re chasing more crunch and drive without losing articulation.
DiMarzio built this one to play well with others. Drop it in the bridge alongside two Fast Track 1 pickups for a matched set, or pair it with a Fast Track 1 in the neck and The Cruiser in the middle. It also earns its keep as a neck pickup if you’re running a hot humbucker at the bridge and want something that can keep up in output while staying clear.
