Description
Think of the Air Zone as the Tone Zone’s older, mellower cousin – same Airbucker low-string-pull magnetic design for effortless sustain, but dialed back into a more vintage-voiced PAF character. You still get that big bass response and quirky harmonic content the Tone Zone is known for, just with extra sensitivity and finer control under your pick.
Where this pickup really earns its keep is in front of hot, high-gain amps. The dual-resonance coils working with the Airbucker magnetic field let sustained notes hold onto their harmonic overtones as they decay, rather than collapsing into mud or fuzz the way lesser pickups do when pushed hard. That makes it a great option for players chasing massive preamp gain without sacrificing note definition.
Don’t overlook it as a neck pickup, either – the Air Zone does a convincing job of conjuring hollow-body archtop warmth out of a solid-body guitar, which jazz players will appreciate. It also splits and coil-taps cleanly, giving you series-parallel flexibility if your wiring supports it.
Primarily recommended for the bridge position in solid-body and semi-hollow guitars, though it also pairs well as a warm neck companion to bridge pickups like the Tone Zone, Super Distortion, or Super 3.
