Description
The Air Norton (DP193) began life as the Airbucker take on the Norton, engineered as a bridge pickup for high-gain rigs. What DiMarzio found instead was a neck pickup with real personality — full and warm without collapsing into mud, hot without turning to mush, and carrying harmonic detail that’s rare in neck humbuckers.
Behind that behavior is DiMarzio’s patented Air Norton magnetic structure, which cuts string pull compared to a conventional humbucker. Less magnetic drag means longer sustain and a pickup that responds honestly to how hard you dig in, keeping pick attack and dynamics under your control rather than the magnet’s.
- Neck position: open, warm, and powerful enough to sit evenly against most bridge humbuckers — try 500K pots to bring out extra treble and harmonic sparkle
- Bridge position: medium output with firm low end and biting harmonics — works well with 250K controls, or a 500K volume paired with a 250K tone to round off the highs
- Pairs naturally with an Air Zone, Tone Zone, or Steve’s Special in the bridge slot, or with an Air Classic Bridge model for a medium-output blues-rock voice
- Also blends well with single-coils like The Cruiser, The Chopper, and Blue Velvet
Built for solid body and semi-hollow guitars, in white.
