For years the AT-1 was Andy Timmons’ secret weapon, a custom bridge humbucker built exclusively for his signature Ibanez and never sold separately. DiMarzio has since made it available to the rest of us, and it’s easy to hear why he’s stuck with it as his go-to pickup since 2001.
Under the hood, the AT-1 shares its patented construction with the PAF 36th Anniversary, but DiMarzio dialed things up for more output and a rock-forward push. The result is a humbucker that still keeps the warmth and clarity players love from a great PAF-style design, just with more grit and drive when you dig in. Expect articulate lows, a smooth midrange that doesn’t get muddy under gain, and highs that stay musical instead of harsh — the kind of balance that lets chords ring clearly and single-note runs cut through a mix.
This version is F-spaced, so it’s built to line up correctly with the string spacing on guitars using a floating or Floyd-style bridge. It comes finished in white.
