The DiMarzio LiquiFire (DP227) is the neck-position half of John Petrucci’s signature pickup set, developed during the making of Dream Theater’s “Black Clouds & Silver Linings.” Petrucci has run DiMarzio pickups since the late ’80s, and this design reflects exactly what he wanted from a neck humbucker: a tone that flows and sings on overdriven leads without turning muddy, then cleans up into crisp, well-defined chord voicings when you roll back the gain.
