Description
Built alongside Steve Lukather for his Music Man LIII guitar, the DiMarzio Transition Bridge is the humbucker he leaned on for his album of the same name. Rather than chasing a scooped, hi-fi bridge tone, this pickup goes for something rawer — a ceramic-powered growl that stays articulate even when you’re digging in hard. Lukather’s own take: he wanted something “simple and direct,” and that’s exactly what this pickup delivers, with enough punch to handle shredding and technical runs without losing definition on the low strings.
The F-spaced coil geometry lines the pickup up properly with wider bridge string spacing, so pole pieces sit under each string instead of drifting off-center. Ceramic magnets push the output higher and add a firmer, more aggressive low end than an alnico bridge pickup, while the 4-conductor wiring leaves the door open for coil-splitting, series/parallel switching, or phase tricks if your wiring setup supports it. Finished in white to match (or contrast with) your build.

If you want a bridge humbucker with attitude but not harshness — something that can handle both riffing and rapid-fire lead lines — this is the pickup Lukather himself trusted for the job.
