DiMarzio took everything they liked about the Virtual Vintage Solo and Virtual Vintage Solo Pro and merged them into one bridge pickup, then pushed the design further. The result is a single-coil-sized humbucker with smoother top end, tighter bass, and noticeably more pick attack under your fingers — dig in and it snarls out of the amp, back off and it cleans up quietly and clearly.
Instead of picking between the warmth of one Virtual Vintage voice and the punch of the other, DiMarzio fattened the highs and boosted output without muddying the low end. That balance lets the Virtual Solo cover a lot of ground: it stays articulate through a clean amp and holds together just as well when you slam it into heavy overdrive, making it a versatile choice for players who move between styles.
