Description
Born from Paul Gilbert’s collaboration with DiMarzio, the Injector Neck Model was designed for players who want single-coil sizing without the single-coil compromises. This isn’t a pickup chasing vintage twang — it’s aimed squarely at modern rock and shred tones, with a fuller, warmer voice and a healthier 160mV output than a traditional single-coil delivers.
Being hum-canceling, it stays dead quiet, but the real magic is in how it handles speed. DiMarzio pulled roughly 40% of the magnetic pull out of the design compared to standard single-coils, which frees up the strings to respond faster and more dynamically to pick attack. The payoff: high-gain, high-speed runs stay articulate instead of collapsing into mush or thinning out under gain.
Gilbert used this exact pickup — Injector Neck paired with an Area 67 in the middle and Injector Bridge Model in the bridge — on his “Fuzz Universe” record. That combination lets the switch positions do real work: the Area 67 alone hands you classic vintage chime, while bringing in the Injectors shifts things into heavier, louder territory, with the in-between positions blending both characters.
- Wiring: 4-Conductor
- Magnet: Alnico 2
- Output: 160mV
- DC Resistance: 8.56 kOhm
Finished in white, this is a drop-in upgrade for anyone wanting single-coil looks with the touch sensitivity and output to keep up with fast, gain-heavy playing.
