Description
Wound pickups have owned the tone conversation since 1934 – Fishman decided it was time for a rebuttal. The Fluence Classic Humbucker ditches traditional coil winding for their Fluence Core design, giving you an active bridge pickup that stays dead silent no matter how long your cable run is or how much gain you’re pushing.
This nickel-covered bridge unit carries two genuinely distinct voices, not just a coil-tap variation on a single sound. Flip between them with a push-pull or toggle and you get:
- Voice 1 – Vintage P.A.F.: a calibrated, classic bridge humbucker tone dialed to the output level that made this sound legendary. Peak frequency: 2.25kHz.
- Voice 2 – Classic Hotrod: the hot-rodded bridge tone lead players chase, with none of the microphonics or noise floor that usually comes attached. Peak frequency: 1.6kHz.
Under the hood you’re getting Alnico V magnets in a bar-magnet-with-poles configuration, 140 gauss at the string, and 52.6mm pole spacing for standard humbucker string spacing. Output impedance sits at 2k with a 2.5mA current draw, so a standard 9-volt battery keeps you running for roughly 200 hours – or swap in Fishman’s optional rechargeable lithium-ion pack and stop thinking about batteries altogether.
It’s a direct drop-in for standard humbucker routes, built for players who want vintage-to-modern versatility without touching their tone with a compromise.
