The Fluence Modern Humbucker Set pairs a Ceramic VIII bridge pickup with an Alnico V neck pickup, and both are built around Fishman’s Fluence Core – a coil design that skips traditional wire winding to eliminate the noise and inductance quirks that even great passive humbuckers can’t escape. The usual bridge/neck placement is a smart starting point, but nothing’s hard-wired that way – trust your ears.
In the bridge, the Ceramic delivers a switchable pair of tones: a tight, searing modern active voice with punchy low end and real growl, plus a second voice that channels high-output passive ceramic character with all the dynamics active electronics allow. In the neck, the Alnico’s Voice 1 gives you a full, boosted active tone with unusual clarity for an active pickup, while Voice 2 offers a clean, fluid humbucker sound that stays present instead of going thin and plinky.
Because these are true multi-voice pickups, you’re not just coil-tapping – you get genuinely different tonal personalities from the same pickup, with no output drop between them. Wire them to a toggle for on-the-fly switching, or set your favorite voice and forget it.
