This is the Fluence Modern set in gold hardware: an Alnico V pickup paired with a Ceramic VIII pickup, built to be dropped in as neck and bridge respectively — though Fishman’s own advice stands, trust your ears over the rulebook. Both use Fishman’s active Fluence Core construction, which sidesteps the hum, inductance quirks, and top-end loss that come baked into traditional wire-wound pickups.
The Alnico pickup gives you two voices from one coil: Voice 1 is a full, round active tone with real dynamic snap (950kHz peak), while Voice 2 delivers a clean, fluid neck-humbucker character without the thin, plinky edge that usually comes with ‘clean’ (8kHz peak). It’s rated at 120 gauss at the string, 2k output impedance, drawing 2.5mA.
The Ceramic pickup covers the aggressive end: Voice 1 is a searing, tight-bottomed crunch with real growl (720kHz peak), and Voice 2 switches to a high-output, organic passive-style ceramic tone built for distortion (1.89kHz peak). It runs 145 gauss at the string, same 2k impedance and 2.5mA draw.
