Description
This Fluence Modern set pairs an Alnico V pickup for the neck with a Ceramic VIII pickup for the bridge, though Fishman’s own advice stands: trust your ears over the “typical” wiring diagram. Both units share the same core promise — active clarity with zero hum, zero inductance mush, and none of the tone-sucking baggage that comes with traditional coil-wound pickups.
The Alnico half gives you two flavors from one bobbin: a full, round, boosted Modern Active voice (950kHz peak) built for chords and singing leads, plus a Crisp Clean/Fluid voice (8kHz peak) that finally delivers a genuinely useful clean neck humbucker tone, not a thin, plinky one.
The Ceramic half brings its own pair of voices: a searing, tight-bottomed Modern Active humbucker tone (720kHz peak) with real growl, and a Modern Active High Output voice (1.89kHz peak) tuned for organic, passive-style distortion with Fluence’s dynamic response intact.
- True Multi-Voice switching — two usable, musically distinct tones per pickup, no output loss
- Dead quiet operation, even with long cable runs (50ft+, no signal degradation)
- Drop-in replacement for standard humbucker routing
- Runs on a standard 9V (roughly 200 hours) or optional rechargeable lithium-ion pack
- Bar magnet w/blades construction; Output Impedance 2k; Current Draw 2.5mA
- Alnico: 120 Gauss at string. Ceramic: 145 Gauss at string
Finished in brushed stainless, this set is built for players who want active output without giving up touch sensitivity or tonal range.
