Description
The EMG 45P takes the classic split-coil P bass formula and stretches it out for six-string players, housed in EMG’s 4.5″ (115mm) Extended-format shell. Rather than the usual Fender-style layout, this version puts the treble magnet closer to the neck—matching the string spacing found on basses like the Spector and Yamaha. If you run a more traditional layout with the treble side toward the bridge, EMG also makes this pickup in a “reverse” configuration.
Tonally, the 45P leans on ceramic magnets paired with short, compact coils to deliver a sound that’s punchy without getting muddy. Expect crisp top-end definition, a solid midrange body, and low end that hits hard without collapsing into mush—the kind of balanced, low-noise output that’s made this pickup a go-to for touring and session bassists who need consistency night after night.
Install day is painless thanks to EMG’s solderless system, so you’re not hunting for an iron or second-guessing your wiring skills. Everything needed to wire it up active is included in the box.
