The Rare Earth Single Coil is Fishman’s answer to players who want that classic single-coil sparkle from their acoustic without the piercing highs some early designs were known for. This version has been re-voiced and fine-tuned specifically to smooth out the treble response while keeping the articulate, cutting character that single-coil designs are loved for.
At the heart of it is a neodymium magnet structure paired with active electronics, delivering a warmer, more naturally acoustic voice with tight string-to-string balance and clear, sparkling detail across the neck. It’s the kind of pickup that lets your instrument sound like itself u2014 just louder.
Installation is genuinely plug-and-play: no routing, no permanent alterations, just drop it in the soundhole. The pre-wired output jack can be mounted at the endpin, and the ergonomic body shape combined with a newly designed mounting system means it seats securely without fuss. Power comes from miniature batteries that mount neatly underneath the pickup itself (included), and thanks to a low-current preamp design, you’re looking at up to 300 hours of playing time before a swap.
