The Rare Earth Blend takes Fishman’s neodymium soundhole design and adds a genuine microphone into the mix, giving you a blend control that dials between pure magnetic pickup signal and the airy, natural character of an internal cardioid mic. The result is a tone that’s less “plugged-in acoustic” and closer to what your guitar actually sounds like in the room.
Fishman re-voiced the active electronics on this version specifically to smooth out harsh high-end response, so you get a warmer top end without losing string definition. The neodymium magnet structure keeps note-to-note balance even across a full strum, while the low-noise preamp circuitry keeps things quiet even when you push gain for stage volume.
Installation is genuinely plug-and-play — no routing, no permanent modification to the guitar. The pickup mounts in the soundhole with an updated, more ergonomic body shape, and the miniature batteries tuck neatly underneath the unit itself. Thanks to the preamp’s low-current draw, you can expect roughly 150 hours of playing time before a battery swap. The output jack comes pre-wired and can also be configured for endpin mounting if you prefer that setup.
