Description
The V-200 shares its piezo-ceramic pickup element with Fishman’s V-100, but swaps the connection method for a Carpenter-style 1/4″ output jack that clamps onto the side of the violin using chinrest-style hardware. No drilling, no adhesives, no permanent changes — it’s the kind of setup you can install before a gig and remove after, leaving the instrument exactly as it was.
Piezo-ceramic sensors are known for translating string energy into signal without much fuss, and Fishman keeps the whole unit light so it doesn’t dampen the violin’s natural resonance or add unwanted mass to the top. That lightness matters more on violin than almost any other instrument — extra weight near the bridge or chinrest can noticeably choke the sound you’re trying to amplify.
Because piezo pickups tend to run high impedance, pairing the V-200 with an impedance-matching preamp will get you a cleaner, fuller signal — but it’s not mandatory. Plug straight into an amp or PA if you need something quick and simple.
- Piezo-ceramic pickup element
- Carpenter-style 1/4″ output jack
- Mounts with chinrest-style hardware — no alteration to the instrument
- Lightweight design minimizes muting of natural tone
- Impedance-matching preamp recommended, though not required
A practical, reversible way to get your acoustic violin heard on stage or through a mixing board.
