Description
Restringing shouldn’t be a wrestling match, and neither should staying in tune once you’re plugged in. This is a single genuine Fender locking tuning machine, cast in chrome and fitted with the taller post height used for the low E, A and D positions. Drop the string through the post, snug down the removable cap, and the internal locking mechanism grips the string right at the tuner – no more winding a dozen wraps around the post hoping for the best.
Under the hood you’re getting an 18:1 gear ratio, so tuning stays smooth and precise rather than twitchy, which matters a lot once you’re relying on a locking design for pitch stability. Because the mechanism clamps the string directly, you’ll also spend less time stretching new strings in and dealing with slippage at the post – a small change that makes a noticeable difference on stages and in sessions alike.
These were factory-spec on American Deluxe series Stratocasters and Telecasters, Strat Plus models, and select Custom Shop builds. They’re also a solid retrofit candidate for most other U.S.- and Mexico-made Strats and Teles, though depending on your existing hardware some minor fitting work may be needed. One important note: this tall-post version will not work correctly on American Vintage Series instruments, and since post heights vary between the G/B/high-E and low-E/A/D positions, double check which height your build needs before ordering.
