Description
EMG built the MetalWorks 57/66 set to cover both ends of the neck without asking you to compromise on character. The 57 holds down the bridge with Alnico V magnets and steel pole pieces, a combo that leans into vintage PAF territory while EMG’s active circuitry keeps the headroom wide open. Expect tight low end, articulate picking dynamics, and enough push to cut through a dense mix without turning brittle.
Up at the neck, the 66 takes a different approach. It still uses Alnico V for warmth through the mids and lows, but swaps in ceramic pole pieces to sharpen up the top end — so chords stay full and singing leads don’t get lost in mud. Together, the 57 and 66 are voiced specifically for their respective positions, not just repurposed versions of each other, which is why the pairing feels so cohesive across the whole neck.
Both pickups wear EMG’s brushed steel covers with a gold finish, giving the set a clean, industrial look that reads modern on almost any body style.
- EMG Quik-Connect™ cabling for solder-free installation
- Prewired split-shaft volume/tone control set
- Output jack, battery clip set, mounting screws and springs included
If you’re chasing an active tone that still nods to classic PAF warmth — and you’d rather skip the soldering iron entirely — this set is built for exactly that swap.
