Description
If you’ve ever wanted the snap of an acoustic-style piezo bridge alongside your Strat’s stock magnetics, the Ctrl-X is the piece that makes it work. It’s the first onboard mixer built specifically to combine traditional passive pickups with newer active piezo bridges like the LR Baggs X-Bridge or T-Bridge — and it does so without letting active circuitry bleed into and color your magnetic tone.
Pair it with the X-Bridge and you’re essentially retrofitting your Strat with hybrid-guitar performance, minus the hybrid-guitar price tag. Strum a chord with the mags alone, flick a switch, and suddenly you’ve got shimmering piezo detail sitting right on top — all from the same instrument, same cable, same gig.
Here’s how it works in mono mode: the active X-Bridge and your passive magnetics are blended passively through a standard guitar cable, so there’s no need for a stereo rig or extra outboard gear. The middle tone knob is swapped out for a blend control, giving you full sweep from all-magnetic to all-X-Bridge and everywhere in between. Both tone circuits get summed into the remaining tone knob, while the volume pot becomes a master volume for the whole system.
A 3-way switch rounds out the control set, jumping instantly between three core voices:
- Stock Strat sound — mags only, X-Bridge fully out of circuit
- Mixed — blend of magnetics and X-Bridge via the blend knob
- X-Bridge only — pure piezo output
Simple switching, real tonal range, and none of the compromise that usually comes with piezo/magnetic hybrids.
