Uke players know the frustration all too well: most pickups are just shrunk-down guitar systems that flatten a uke’s charm into something generic. L.R. Baggs designed the Five.O from the ground up for uke, so what comes through your amp actually sounds like the instrument in your hands.
At its core is a custom-tuned version of L.R. Baggs’ celebrated Element undersaddle pickup, recalibrated specifically to track a ukulele’s dynamics and tonal quirks rather than borrowing a guitar-voiced sensor. It pairs with a miniature endpin preamp and a soundhole-mounted volume knob, all running off a single 3V coin cell battery.
Size and weight matter enormously on an instrument this small, and the entire Five.O system tips the scale at less than a single 9V battery. Everything installs discreetly inside the uke’s body, so there’s no bulky hardware fighting for space or throwing off the balance of the instrument.
The electronics are all-discrete, chosen and voiced for a clean, accurate frequency response rather than a colored or hyped signal. Plug in and you get the uke you already love, just louder.
