Description
The iBeam works differently than most under-saddle pickups: it mounts to the underside of the bridge plate itself, sensing the top’s actual vibration rather than string pressure alone. Paired with L.R. Baggs’ all-discrete, Class A FET preamp (built right into a stereo Strapjack output), you get a pickup system that’s been pre-tuned at the factory so it sounds musical the moment you plug in—warm, balanced, and free of the quacky compression that plagues cheaper piezo setups.
- iBeam bridge-plate transducer for natural, string-to-string dynamics
- All-discrete Class A FET preamp for an analog-warm signal path
- Pre-tuned voicing—no trim pots or EQ tweaking needed to sound right
- Second active input on the preamp lets you blend in a complementary pickup (mic, soundhole, etc.)
- Quick installation with included placement jig and peel-and-stick mounting adhesive
- Fits most X-braced guitars with at least 3″ of flat, open space beneath the saddle
- Runs up to 1000 hours on a single 9V battery
- Tiny footprint: 2.875″ x .425″, weighing in at under 1/3 oz
This listing covers the classical guitar version of the iBeam Active System, built for players who want their nylon-string’s natural woodiness carried through to the PA without artificial brightness or added noise. If your instrument has the bracing room for it, this is one of the cleanest ways to go direct while keeping the acoustic character intact.
