Description
The L.R. Baggs iBeam Active System takes a different approach to acoustic amplification: instead of sitting under the saddle, this patent-pending transducer adheres directly to the bridge plate inside the guitar. Weighing in at just 1/3 of an ounce, it’s light enough to disappear acoustically while capturing the guitar’s actual voice rather than a piezo approximation of it.
Paired with an all-discrete Class A endpin preamp, the iBeam is a genuine plug-in-and-play system — no soundhole controls, no fuss. What you get on the amplified end is a surprisingly faithful picture of your instrument’s dynamics and string-to-string balance, along with the kind of natural texture (finger squeak, top taps and all) that most under-saddle pickups smooth over or exaggerate. Feedback resistance stays strong, and that glassy, quacky piezo signature is nowhere to be found.
- Patent-pending bridge plate transducer, roughly 1/3 oz.
- All-discrete Class A endpin preamp — plug-in-and-play operation
- Preserves natural tone, string balance, and full dynamic range
- Microphonic enough for authentic detail, feedback-resistant in practice
- Includes a placement jig for accurate, minutes-long installation
This listing is for a demo unit — same components, same performance, small savings for the budget-minded upgrader.
