Description
Every acoustic player knows a mic in front of the guitar sounds better than any piezo — the problem has always been getting that sound reliably on a live stage. Lyric solves it by putting the mic inside the guitar itself, so there’s no pickup in the signal path at all, just your instrument’s actual acoustic voice going straight to the PA.
LR Baggs mounts this featherweight capsule to the underside of the bridge plate using simple peel-and-stick adhesive, so nothing about your guitar’s construction is altered. Sitting just 3mm from the top, it works on the pressure-zone principle, reading the entire soundboard for a balanced, full-bodied tone while also allowing higher gain before feedback than you’d expect from an internal mic. The real breakthrough, though, is Lyric’s noise-canceling Tru-Mic technology, which filters out the boomy, boxy reflections that usually plague inside-the-body mics — the result sounds like the mic is floating out in front of the guitar rather than sealed inside it.
Onboard electronics do the work of a studio outboard rack: tightened low end for punch without mud, a compression-like circuit that keeps things smooth under hard strumming, and a presence control that lets you shape the top end to match your particular guitar. All of it runs through an all-discrete, high-fidelity mic preamp built right into the system.
